Lindsworth School Careers News – Autumn Term

Talk Money Week: Birmingham Financial Futures Conference

As part of Talk Money Week, a national campaign led by the Money & Pensions Service each November, our Year 10 and Year 11 pupils had the exciting opportunity to attend the Birmingham Financial Futures Conference.

In the Youth Zone, hosted by Lovells, pupils joined peers from a mainstream school to take part in two inspiring sessions:

  • Exploring Careers in Housing Pupils met industry professionals and discovered the wide range of career paths available in housing—from construction and project management to financial roles. They also learned about the impressive salaries these careers can offer. To put their learning into practice, pupils worked on designing a regeneration project for their local area.
  • Understanding Gambling-Related Harm Delivered by Aquarius, a charity specialising in gambling-related harm, this session explored the risks of gambling in the context of gaming, encouraging pupils to think critically about the impact on individuals and communities.

Alongside the workshops, pupils visited a marketplace of organisations and senior professionals, gaining valuable insights and networking opportunities. They also toured the University campus, helping them to visualise higher education and raise their aspirations for the future.

Our pupils engaged enthusiastically throughout the day and left feeling inspired and motivated about the opportunities ahead.

Army Careers Talk

We were delighted to welcome representatives from the British Army into school to speak with pupils in Years 9, 10 and 11. The session gave pupils valuable insight into the wide range of careers available within the Army, from technical and engineering roles to leadership and specialist positions.

Pupils learned about the skills and training the Army provides, the opportunities for personal development, and the diverse pathways open to them after leaving school. The talk encouraged pupils to think about how their own strengths and interests could align with future career options, while also highlighting the importance of teamwork, resilience, and ambition.

This was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to explore career possibilities and raise their aspirations for the future.
