Dear Parents/Carers                                                                                                                     14th May 2021

COVID update - Wearing of face coverings in school

Following the Prime Ministers’ announcement on Monday 10th May 2021, I can confirm that we will no longer be requiring our students to wear face coverings in classrooms or communal areas from Monday 17th May 2021. Staff will no longer be required to wear a face covering in the classroom. Please note that it is still recommended that all visitors to the school and staff continue to wear masks in communal areas and corridors. All other COVID measures remain in place for the time being, including: the expectation of sanitising and washing your hands and masks to be worn when on transport. Students are encouraged to still socially distance from each other and staff members as much as possible.

This is very good news and I hope it has been well received by the students. Face coverings have certainly been an additional challenge for all to manage over the last weeks. If you do have any concerns regarding this updated practice, please contact your child’s Pastoral Manager in the first instance.

Finally, the DfE has asked that we remind parents/carers of the importance of home testing and engaging with NHS Test and Trace.

School website

We are currently updating our school website so I would ask you to please contact reception if you require any information you are unable to find.

Teacher Training Day

Advance notice that Friday 25th June 2021 School will be closed to pupils.

This year has presented so many challenges for all of us and as a school we have missed the opportunity to meet with our parents/carers. If the roadmap continues and restrictions ease we are planning to hold our end of year parents evening and annual barbecue to which everyone will be invited.

More details to follow but should there be a need for us to move this to a virtual event, we will notify you of any changes.

Year 11

I am going to remain optimistic that we will be able to invite parents and carers into school to celebrate with our Year 11’s and attend the Year 11 Leavers Assembly. Updates to follow.

Looking forward

Finally, we are looking forward to having fun and creating more memories as we start to prepare to head into the next academic year in September and hopefully resume with the exciting enrichment activities and school camps.

Yours sincerely
