Dear Parents/Carers

I write to update you on the schools plans in light of the Government announcements affecting schools nationally on the last day of school last week in particular Test and Trace. As you may be aware, the situation regarding the pandemic is very fluid presently and I am conscious the situation may therefore change between now and the 4th January 2021. However, I thought it best to share our thinking with you in order to assist in your planning. I will be updating you further as the situation potentially changes in light of further Government announcements.

At present, we intend for our pupils to return to school after the break on the 4th January 2021. This is dependent on Government announcements and the systems we will need to implement to support the governments Test and Trace.

Test and Trace

You will probably be aware from the news and social media that it is the government’s ambition for all schools to start testing staff and students on site as part of the drive to keep students in school and curb the spread of the virus. This is currently a voluntary scheme, although the government is hopeful that schools will support its roll out. Lindsworth School is keen to support the programme. We have begun to consider the logistics of this. However, we can only plan and confirm our arrangements offering this service to staff and students once further details of how it will work and what will be provided are received from the DfE. We have been advised that week commencing 4th January will be when we can formalise our plans and testing kits are received.

Registration and Consent

Testing in schools is voluntary. We will be sending you further information about the lateral flow test along with registration and consent forms in due course. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school once term starts.

I thank you in advance for your continued support in these challenging times. In the meantime to all those celebrating, I hope you have a very happy Christmas and I wish you a peaceful New Year to you all.

Yours sincerely

Kate Beale

Head of School
