Students will begin studying towards their GCSE Literature examination in year 9.
The skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening are of vital importance and underpin success-ful study at all levels. The GCSE course ensures that pupils study a range of literary texts (including Shakespeare, Jekyll and Hyde, Poetry and An Inspector Calls) and that they can develop their writ-ing skills across a range of tasks. They are given opportunities to develop analysis and comparison skills when looking at the work of authors, poets and dramatists.
For those pupils studying at Entry Level, they will explore a number of writers and poets, developing their interpretation skills. Pupils will also advance their writing skills over a variety of forms, communicating clearly, building vocabulary and strengthening technical accuracy.
