Art Craft & Design KS4

Though the key skills are taught at Key Stage 3, it is expected that students have a keen interest in art and are confident in their making skills when starting GCSE. Through experimentation and refinement, students will gain confidence in their abilities to assemble a creative, varied and exciting portfolio of work that will be displayed in an exhibition.

Exam information – WJEC Eduqas in Art Craft and Design

Component 1: Portfolio
60% of qualification: 120 marks 

This component comprises of a major practical portfolio and outcomes to be based on internally set themes and subject matter developed from personal and or/given starting points.  It is internally assessed and externally moderated. Evidence is required to show how students have met each assessment objective.
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment 40% of qualification: 80 marks 

The externally set assignments consists of 2 parts

Part one: preparatory study period
One of 6 assignments is to be selected by the students and used as a starting point from which they will produce a creative response.

Part 2: practical 10-hour exam o
Students will produce a final piece under supervision.
