Mathematics KS3

Maths is delivered as a discrete subject as well as across the curriculum to pupils as one of our core subjects. Pupils have Maths lessons and study the national curriculum at KS3 and the GCSE/Entry Level at KS4.

In Maths lessons, pupils develop their mathematical skills and ways of thinking, are equipped with a powerful set of tools including, logical reasoning, problem solving and the ability to think in an abstract way.

At KS3 pupils are taught the topics with a view for progression. This 3 year scheme of work for lower ability students identifies areas of overlap between the KS3 Maths Progress Pi 1, 2 and 3 student books and the Edexcel GCSE (9-1) Mathematics Foundation student book. In Year 7 and Year 8, students cover all units from KS3 Maths Progress Pi that are required as prior knowledge before moving on to the GCSE course in Years 9, 10 and 11. Pupils are assessed every half term on skills delivered for the topics covered.
